Among all the news going on right now at this point in time..this article totally caught my eye! (thanks to @rpetty for posting this on FB).

Don't open your bank account until the PAYE looks at it first.

So what’s the big deal? It isn’t big, more like ENORMOUS and BLOATED more like it. As the title states,

The proposal by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) stresses the need for employers to provide real-time information to the government so that it can monitor all payments and make a better assessment of whether the correct tax is being paid.”

What? Let’s look at that in even more layman terms.  The document which can be accessed from here. The PAYE(Pay As You EARN) system has been in use for 66yrs now.  Look at it as a British equivalent to the IRS. Well according to the document, the HMRC figures that things can be 1) streamlined  2) become more competitive  3) get better at REAL-TIME data monitoring  –> which would improve tax collecting and welfare systems (i.e. healthcare).

So basically this proposal is to “help the government” which in turn helps the individual.  Hello!?!

  • Streamline the government? First of all, Big Government does not become streamlined unless it ADDS more government. Period, end of story.
  • Become more competitive? competitive against WHO??? competitive against itself? Who does the IRS compete against? Someone tell me. It competes against no one, people.
  • Real-Time data monitoring? *big sigh*….yeah, ok, I get it….it’s not enough to know what is in my bank account, Big Brother also has to bypass my bank account and become STOP #1 for MY money.

O.K., I am getting more and more worked up as I write this, puleeze excuse my sarcasm and frustration. PULEEZE!

So, why take time out of my fun filled day to even care to write all about this? I could be writing about my weekend at #redstate or the latest on #christineOD.

Listen, if you havent yet figured out that the good old US of A is heading in the way of the UK system…then you clearly live in a rosy pink world and I need to move in with you.

Am I the only person who’s imagination starts conjuring images from 1984? And I don’t mean big hair and neon colors.  That’s right, at some point, unless the people of the UK do something about it, their paychecks will go directly to the government and the government will decide how much to “give them back.”  Let this be a warning to the New World, we aren’t that new and in this day an age of a global economy and big government, it’s only a matter of time we start proposing the same here.

“If HMRC has direct access to employees’ bank accounts and makes a mistake, people are going to feel very exposed and vulnerable,” Bull said. “

Oh reeeaaalllly????
